Successful Participation from Project TIES in Wellness Event, Me, Myself and I

More than 400 people visited the TIES Project booth on September 26 at the “Me, Myself and I” wellness event at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, where they received information about this federal initiative aimed at reducing new HIV cases in the Municipality of San Juan by 90% by 2030, as outlined in the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) proposal. Hundreds of educational materials and promotional items were distributed to attendees of the event, organized by Merodea, which projected an attendance of 1,200 people.

Project TIES participated for the first time in this event, which celebrated its third edition, as part of a community outreach strategy designed to raise awareness of the initiative in non-traditional settings. Amidst dozens of exhibitors showcasing health, gastronomy, and wellness, Project TIES stood out as the only HIV-focused initiative present to provide information on goals for eradicating HIV in the capital city and to address the stigma surrounding the virus.

The Project TIES community outreach team members Inés Serrano Santana and Mayra Román Rodríguez, along with early intervention leader Jesús Marrero Santiago, manned the booth exhibition and informed attendees about the clinical and support services offered by the project's nine sub-recipients: AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), Centro Ararat, Centro de Estudios Materno Infantiles (CEMI), Estancia Corazón, Iniciativa Comunitaria, Prepven, Puerto Rico CoNCRA, and the Manuel Díaz García Diagnostic and Treatment Center (CDT).
