The TIES Project Participates for the Third Time in Hospitals Association Convention

The TIES Project team, a federal initiative aimed at reducing new HIV cases in the Municipality of San Juan, participated for the third time in the Hospital Association’s Annual Convention, held on October 1 and 2 at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Resort & Casino. Hundreds of people visited the exhibit, where they received a brief overview of the program's services, such as access to subsidized providers for rapid and effective HIV treatment initiation and support services, including medical transportation and incentives designed to maintain retention in care, among others.
Mayra Román Rodríguez, community outreach specialist, and José Martínez Santiago, leader of the Health Promoters Division, assisted event attendees, such as representatives from biotechnology and medical equipment companies, hospitals, health insurance providers, pharmaceutical companies, and the Puerto Rico Department of Health, among other health-related entities. Both members of TIES Project distributed hundreds of educational materials, such as the printed edition of the Provider Directory and brochures, as well as promotional items like hand fans, water bottles, and stickers.

Additionally, the team succeeded in getting more than 80 people to sign up on the website to receive updates on the efforts of TIES Project, which is funded by the “Ending the HIV Epidemic” (EHE) initiative. This initiative aims to reduce new HIV cases in San Juan by 90% by 2030, in collaboration with sub-recipients that provide direct services.
